Diagnostic tests
Advanced Diagnostic Tests
For cases that require a more in-depth evaluation, we use specialized technology that allows for early detection of eye conditions:
Visual Field Testing: Measures peripheral vision to help detect glaucoma and neurological issues.
Tear Film Testing: Evaluates the quantity and quality of tears in patients with dry eye.
Optomap Retinal Scan: A high-resolution digital image that helps identify:
Eye conditions: Macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and glaucoma.
Overall health: Signs of diabetes, hypertension, and stroke risk.
The key advantage: Optomap creates a permanent digital record, allowing us to accurately track and compare any changes in your eye health year after year.
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is the latest advancement in imaging technology. Like ultrasound, this diagnostic technique uses light instead of sound waves to obtain high-resolution images of the structural layers at the back of the eye.
With OCT, physicians obtain color-coded cross-sectional images of the retina. These detailed images are revolutionizing the early detection and treatment of eye conditions such as wet and dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma, retinal detachment, and diabetic retinopathy. OCT is a non-invasive and painless test that takes only a few minutes in our office. Please feel free to contact us to request information about OCT at your next appointment.
